Hello! I’m Dr Ibrahim Ndabavunye, an accredited Clinical Psychologist with a doctorate in Clinical Psychologist and registered with the Health and Care Professional Council (HCPC).
I have more than 16 years’ experience as a Clinical Psychologist and worked with people of all different ages, cultures, and backgrounds.
I have a wealth of experience in working in public and private practices both in the UK and overseas. Here in the UK, I have worked extensively with Children and Adolescent Mental Services (CAMHS), with adults in Primary Care (IAPT), Community Mental Health Service (CMHT), and outpatients and inpatient/forensic services.
My experience includes working with individuals with a wide range of issues including anxiety, depression, relationship issues, trauma/complex trauma, grief and loss, anger management, perfectionism, coping with life changes, and others.
Through my clinical experience, I find that using an integrative therapeutic approach is the most effective way to help you to heal. Thus, a range of approaches will be used including behavioural therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Person-Centred Therapy, Trauma Focused CBT, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Compassion Focused approaches, Psycho-dynamic Therapy, and the third waves of CBT such as Mindfulness, Breathing and Relaxation Techniques.
From the beginning of the first session, I will tailor our conversation and treatment plan to meet your unique and specific needs.
What makes me different as a therapist is that I look not only at what is going on the mind, but also, I pay attention to the body. You will gain insights on past and current situations, emotions or events that may triggering you or holding you back. You will learn new skills and tools to help you to talk to yourself in a positive, non-critical and judgemental ways. You will gain clarity on your core beliefs, values, and life goals.
My mission is to help you understand that all these difficulties you may experience can be linked to your early life experiences or difficulties life events which can have a huge impact on how you feel about yourself, your relationships with others and overall wellbeing.
During your therapy, I am going to give you what I have learned and practised for the last 16 years which will help you to be more aware of what you are experiencing now. You are not alone. Things can and will be better. I am really looking forward to work with you!
